Athletics Carnival Recounts

On Monday I went to the school athletics carnival. First I played ball games. Next we did an egg and spoon race. After that we did parachute. Finally we did the running race and I came first and then I went back home. My day was fun. By Charlie

Marionette Puppets

We looked at marionette puppets and how they moved. Everyone had a turn at trying to make the birds fly.



We then made our own marionette puppets. We used cardboard rolls, pipe cleaners, string and paddle pop sticks. They are fantastic.


We also watched the most famous marionette puppet "Pinocchio" and talked about telling the truth so our noses don't grow!

We have had so much fun making puppets. Maybe you could try to make a sock puppet at home.

Maths Games

Today we played some Maths games.

We played dominoes. Some of the cards had numbers, some had pictures, some had dots and some had number stories. We had to match cards that showed the same amount.

We played 'Toss and Add'. The egg cups in an egg carton were labelled 1 - 12. We put 2 counters in, closed the lid and tossed it around. When we opened the egg carton we looked at where the counters landed and added the two numbers together. We did this 10 times and then we played 'Toss and Subtract'.

We beaded. We had to copy patterns using beads. There were all different coloured shapes. We had to use small and large beads and match the pictures. Our beads looked like necklaces.

We also went on the computer and played games that help us to tell the time on the hour and half hour; and we played games to help us with subtraction.

Because he didn't know how to spell them.

Shadow Puppets

Today we started a unit on Puppets. We found 3 good internet sites. The first one is a Youtube video that shows an amazing display of shadow puppets. The second and third sites give examples on how to make shadow puppets. At home you could use a torch shining against a wall in a dark room to try to make your own shadow puppets.

Thai Food

Today we had Thai food. We had spring rolls, noodles, beef stir fry, fried rice and ice cream. The ice cream was the nicest thing. The spring rolls had pastry on the outside and vegetables on the inside. The noodles were flat and nice. The noodles had egg in it. The beef stir fry had beef, carrot and broccoli. The fried rice had egg and chicken. by Ella
